For Schools

School groups and those not in mainstream education are welcome at all Festival events and tickets can be purchased via the MMU shop @ the concessionary rate of £3 per ticket.

Thanks to funding from Greater Manchester Aimhigher and MMU’s Widening Participation Strategy, we are also able to offer a large but limited number of free places to qualifying schools. These are for events running on Thursday and Friday.

To find out if you are eligible for free places, please email mcbf@mmu.ac.uk, and we will get back to you asap. (Please state your school, postcode, event and number of seats required.) Or telephone Kaye Tew on 0161 247 1966.

Schools outreach at MMU

A number of MMU departments and Faculties have been involved in offering events for the Manchester Children’s Book Festival. As well as the Department of English and the Faculty of Art & Design, these include subject areas as diverse as Maths, Modern Foreign Languages, Computing, Microbiology, Library and Information Management and Teacher Training. Many of these staff run their own outreach programmes and many have also organised schools outreach events in some way connected to the Festival.
